About Jen

Jennifer Benetato is a Manhattan-based integrative psychotherapist and the proud creator of The AMBIKA Method.® She specializes in trauma resolution and addiction recovery and also sees clients for depression, anxiety, pain management, chronic illness, life transitions, and general health maintenance. She is on the faculty of NYU's Silver School of Social Work where she teaches courses in clinical diagnosis, human behavior, field learning, and group practice. Her love of dance, yoga and meditation began in childhood, and she received her mantra in Transcendental Meditation (TM) by age 7. She later incorporated Vipassana (insight), Metta (loving-kindness), and Kundalini meditation practices to her repertoire. Jennifer has taken yoga teacher trainings and intensives in the Vinyasa, Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Kundalini lineages, and is a certified yoga therapist as well as a registered dance/movement therapist. A spiritual quest led her to live and study with esteemed spiritual teacher Ram Dass on Maui, and she now considers Hawaii her second home. Jennifer is also a gifted bodyworker, and often incorporates therapeutic touch as part of her holistic approach. She is a teaching assistant at The Upledger Institute for CranioSacral Therapy, and has taught Shiatsu at the Finger Lakes School of Massage. She is a firm believer in the power of regular dance breaks.

Vision Statement

Jennifer envisions a world where every person on this planet knows that their body is intelligent, their spirit is wise, and their mind is strong. She has dedicated her life to helping her clients to recognize this truth, and believes that there is no obstacle so great that it can not be overcome in the loving presence of a healing community. Working individually, with couples, and in groups, Jen aims to support people of all genders, races, sexualities, ages, and faiths on their road to recovery from physical, emotional, and spiritual wounds. She is devoted to training the next generation of trauma-informed, mind-body-spirit oriented wellness practitioners.
